The Day of the Region Legacy Project is a three-year transnational cooperation project between territories in several other EU nations. This transnational cooperation project will encourage innovation and collaboration – adding scale to the project and building social cohesion between people in different areas – and permits further analysis of methodology toward sustainability. Cooperation with partner regions in Europe presents opportunities for local communities to meet, learn from and share experiences of living and working in rural communities. Day of the Region will play an important role in providing capacity, tools and confidence for rural communities across Dumfries and Galloway to take advantage of their assets and to become more active participants in their own destinies, management and quality of life. The Day of the Region model is effective in that it gives communities the ability to arrange events, participate in partnerships and learn from other communities.
