Supporting the growth of a sustainable and profitable fishing industry in Dumfries and Galloway
The European Maritime & Fisheries Fund (EMFF) is the fund to implement the EU’s maritime and fisheries policies for 2014-2020.
The Fund:
- Helps fishermen in the transition to sustainable fishing
- Supports coastal communities in diversifying their economies
- Finances projects that create new jobs and improve quality of life along European coasts
- Makes it easier for applicants to access financing
In order to support all aspects of the fishing industry there are multiple streams of funding available under the EMFF program (please see Marine Scotland EMFF website). Applications for funding must be made to Marine Scotland, with the exception of applications to the Community Led Local Development Fund which must be made to Dumfries and Galloway Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG).
The FLAG is a balanced group comprising a mix of fishing industry, community and agency representatives. As well as assessing funding applications, the FLAG can drive project development.
Applications to the Community Led Local Development Fund must demonstrate that proposed projects will generate benefits to the local community, either through employment or enhancement of the local environment.
